Fishing was tough today. Fished 8:30-2:30 covering water from 80-250 feet in every depth we were marking fish combo of spoons, flies, flashes and dodgers, riggers and dipsey. Got skunked. Saw many boats out there doing what we were, wandering around aimlessly looking for fish in al depths. Marked the most fish from 125-145 either hugging the bottom or at 40-60 down. Was very rough this AM with waves 3 feet, settled down to >1' later in day.

We did the same thing out of Mexico point. Today. 10 hours or so. Couldn’t seem to get any combination to get bit. Saw a couple guys catch one here and there. ? Also first time trying for kings in Ontario in a 16’ boat those waves were rugged this morning. Hopefully tomorrow we can get into one tomorrow. Good luck everyone

Definitely. We went out again from 645-945. Still nothing tons of big marks 160’. Fow. 145-125 down. Can’t get our baits down to that depth. No riggers just magnum dipsys.  Watched another guy battle a fish for a while think they lost it. We will be back at 430 am for another roUnd. Good luck again

Went out on 9/3 as well with a buddy from about 10-4 out of Fair Haven. Was pretty rough when we got out there, but died down later on. Our report was very similar to yours as we saw most marks in 130 fow near the bottom but couldn't buy a bite so trolled out to about 250 fow looking for takers. Less marks and no bites our there either. Trolled back into the 130 fow range where tons of marks were still hanging out. There were so many marks that we figured they were stageing kings so tried meat, flys, j plugs, spoons and got no takers on any of those. Tossed on a cowbell and got a decent laker and got a dink laker on a spoon when we were picking up. Was happy we didn't get skunked but was surprised to get a laker in there. Guess the marks weren't all staging kings?

It is taxing on the senses but if you are over staging fish you have to keep pounding them until they activate. If you leave the marks too early you will miss the bite windows. Set up in the dark in the morning and fish til 9 am. Go in and get breakfast and a nap then head out after lunch and fish til dark. If a front is approaching, make sure you are over marks as this usually activates the fish to bite. Give them a menu of all bait types as preference will change day to day and even mornings to evenings.
