Well one year ago to the day I was going back to the hospital for the 2nd time from covid. Fast forward one year and I'm out enjoying my life hunting and fishing and I have a fantastic whitetail buck on the ground. This deer has consumed my thoughts since the summer. We have watched him grow. Got videos of him loosing his velvet. Lots of pictures of him. Have videos of him checking out what I was doing in the woods. Spent most of the first month playing cat and mouse with him and he always had the upper hand. And finally we crossed paths and I sealed the deal! This deer is super meaningful and rewarding to harvest after all the hard work. Here's some awesome pictures of him!received_515071363809644~2.jpgreceived_486355443274625.jpgreceived_1180629606133985.jpgIMG_20221101_021328380.jpg373a35e9-933b-4eee-b506-d5f9193b6063.jpg4c5e0437-732e-4b3f-acf6-05d36eb014f8.jpg129938.jpg

Was on stand at 7 and for the first couple hours I saw nothing. Around 930 I had a couple young bucks chasing does on my right. They all came towards the stand and turned and went back west. Wind was perfect, the didn’t see or smell me, it was just the direction the doe took. Right shots out of that tree suck, lots of brush and tree branches.
At 1030 I was about to get down, rain was close. Next thing I knew the buck came from the same direction as the others. I could tell right away he was a shooter for me, at least 3 and 1/2. Hoped he would come across but like the others he turned. I took a very quick 25 yard shot through some brush and was horrified to see the arrow hit very high and very back, the Luminock sticking up out of his back as he ran off.
I was disgusted with myself.
I got down and decided to see if there was blood. No reason to look for the arrow, it was painfully visible as he ran off. I walked to where I hit him and found blood, tons of it. I followed the blood with my eyes and saw him on the ground!  I backed out and called Tommy who met me and helped with the recovery. Better to be lucky than good sometimes!

Well hunted a permission property tonight brought my cousin. And we had a good amount of action maybe 10 does or so. And 2 bucks. Had the bigger buck at 30 yds broadside just eating.. and he has a broken front leg. He's just barely using it. It was hard to not shoot him that's for sure. I was hoping he would work his way to my cousin who was about 180yds from me he did wander that way but he only got to about 70 from him before a doe got him nervous and he hobbled back to the woods.
Going to go back in there tomorrow hoping he can get a shot at him. IMG_20221104_180217299.jpgSnapchat-592446365.jpg

I tried Woodcock hunting today with no luck, but I had more ticks on me then I've ever seen total in my life. Dog had just as many, felt violated!

Got it done today!! Planned a 3 day weekend and left work early today to make the drive from Rochester to my home town to hunt with my uncle.  Decided to hunt the evening even though it was very warm and walked my way to my dads stand.  This is traditionally the first stand I sit every season on my trip home. Got to stand at 330 and 2 hours later here comes the buck crashing straight at me.  I get up turn my body and he stops at 33 yards. Didn’t have time to range him and guessed 30. Dad was def looking down on me as the arrow hit a little low and back.  So I got out headed to truck and waited a few hours to go look.  Deer went about 350 yards and piled up. This is the biggest buck to date taken from Dads stand and one I know he would be proud of and a bit annoyed if he was still around to get yet another call telling him I got a deer out of his stand with the bow since he only gun hunted.

Can you tell IT'S ON!! Nice bucks, boys!

I saw 2 minutes of chasing yesterday evening, and otherwise my hunts have been bird watching. It's going to change momentarily though. Can't rain forever...

Yup, they are terrible. I'm on the antibiotic now for getting drilled

I got bit in may and came down with Lyme in July. Not fun. Brutal fever for 5 days straight and broke out in a whole body rash.

I know it’s not scent friendly but the permethrin clothes spray works wonders. Won’t go in the woods without it now

I was hunting Tonawanda yesterday and had 6 on me in the first 10 mins and the dog probably had more.
I ussualy pick at least a dozen off everytime I go out. It's so normal practice now when u sit down from where ur going. Pick off all the ticks lol

We’ll, my youngest got his first bow kill / deer this am. Problem with the first shot, regrouped his thoughts, and with a little coaxing with the grunt call, he smoked him at 30yds. Nice to see that excitement. Now he’s ready for the big boys he said.  70F744C4-D558-446A-AB2C-52E29FFF18AC.thumb.jpeg.0379114899d3bd63efd00263773195eb.jpeg
