Day late and a dollar short. Been a killable shooter buck in front of one of my stand locations (sometimes several) every day for the last four days and I’ve picked wrong every time. I know eventually I’ll pick right but my goodness this is getting absurd. Playing the wind is my highest priority so nothing spooked or bumped but man, unlucky so far.

November 2 pm
60 degrees
Sunny skies
NE wind 5-10 mph

Lots of action again this afternoon and love was in the air!!! Most of the action was between 4-5. 22 total deer seen. 7 of that were bucks and 2 unknowns walking out.
Saw it all this afternoon. Bumping, chasing, scent checking, scraping, rubbing, grunting.

Of the bucks I saw 3 were 1 year olds 1 2 year old and 3 mature bucks. One of the matures was clearly a shooter (130+ class buck). One was a massive bodied buck but lacked the head gear. He dwarfed the other bucks in the field by a long shot. When I saw him walk out I grabbed my bow just because of his body size only to be disappointed by his 7 pt 105" horns. And the other strange mature buck was 17"+ wide with fairly long beams. 3 short points on the left and on the right he had 5 bumps that might not of even been 1" long.

BBD!!!! What can I say , I’d rather be lucky than good . After a early season grind my best day in woods would be one hr in stand . Had to run down to camp drop off ten bags of coal, figured I’d sit till dark if I could get in by 3 . My plan was to sit in a stand on the edge of a 1000 acre swamp in a travel corridor to water , boy was I right . Playing on my phone heard another squirrel, I thought, and looked up and 30 yards from me coming directly to me wind in my face and sun in his eyes. I made power moves to put glasses away phone in my pocket one handed grab bow off hanger while watching this guy on a mission, while sitting drew on him and stopped him at 15 yards Mabee… let her fly . The rest is history, now to get the kid a buck Saturday. GOODLUCK to all . Water will be key in these upcoming days of heat .

Great Bucks Bill, Joe and Tommy! Mine is Bittersweet as the Coyotes got to him before I did. Shoulder shot, good blood but dried up. A first for me. Also seeing more Coyotes than ever.

Had a good sit this morning. Passed on a 2 1/2 year old 8 point at 10 yards. Ended up seeing 7 deer, including two yearling bucks, the 8 that I passed, and a nice 10 point that was chasing a doe...couldn't get him close enough. Tough stand location to get into for a morning sit, so I went in just at daylight...got to see a nice sunrise from my yard before I left.

Nice 8. He might be 3.5 yrs
The picture makes him look a little bigger than he actually was, but it is possible he might be a 3.5 year old. Either way, he got a free pass today and should be a shooter for me next year if he survives!

November 3 pm
59 degrees
Variable west wind
Clear skies turning foggy

Busy afternoon on stand. I literally feel sorry for the does I saw tonight. Heavy chasing all afternoon. Bucks were all over the place. Most of them I saw more then once. I saw 7 different bucks and only 6 does/fawns.

Stopped at one of my permission spots and they were like there was 9 out last night and one was a huge buck. I was like perfect that what I like to hear haha. going to see if I can get eyes on him for gun season! And one of my other spots a guy said he saw a really big 8 point but couldn't get a shot. So [emoji1696] see if can track down a 2nd big boy.. Would love to take my 2nd with the bow also. So we'll see guess I got some work to do to figure these guys out and see if I can get myself in position to kill one of them!
