How to make a fast homemade boat??

This isnt fishing related but : what do you recomend to float a homemade boat/raft. I want to make a boat that i can just sit on a lake and fish off of but i dont know how to make one cheap and fast. If u have any suggestions let me no.

I once used a couple of 10:00-20 truck tire inner tubes lashed together, blown up real big and tied plywood to it and used a paddle to get around. It was quick and easy and very light, but paddled a little hard. Hillbilly raft
