I just purchased a 23 foot wellcraft boat. I know it has power steering on it. They call it a mechanical system utilizing a push pull enclosed cable. and wondering if the AP200 king marine auto pilot is any good or is there any product that I should look into purchasing for it?

King unit's haven't been made in many years & they weren't the best to start with. Better off to look into a Simrad ap12 or X-5 Raymarine unit.

CBish,

How many hours do you have on the unit? I have an 18 footer that gets blown around a bit more then I like.

Thanks, Dave

After having just installed my own unit I can offer you this one suggestion. TALK TO HANK!!!!!! AP's are great but you need to make sure you match your steering setup to the appropriate unit. It is also good to have someone local like Hank that can help you if you need assistance. Just for the record I installed the Ray Marine SmartPilot and I love it. But I had to change my cable assisted steering to all hydraulic and by the time I was finished I thought I was gonna have to check myself into re-hab!!!
