alwives aka saw bellies

I certainly doubt it this early they are still VERY deep usually around now. If you are thinking about stillfishing for trout golden shiners are probably available and will work too.

We call them mooneyes on Owasco. lol. We have 2 places in Moravia that sell them in the summer, but if you buy them here and then go to Seneca, they will probably be dead by the time you get there. Alewives die so easy, it almost defies logic how they became so invasive in the lakes.

There r ways to keep them alive.i use to to have a bait shop

Round bait tanks a must and some ice water. 

 

Out fishing last week bait was 180 foot down over 300...

 

Gonna be a while before they slide up.
